Ashghal to tender $11bn worth of infra projects

The president of Qatar’s Public Works Authority, Ashghal, has announced plans to tender projects worth $11bn.

According to the Qatar News Agency, Ashghal president Eng Nasser Ali Al-Mawlawi said in a presentation of its plans for the coming years that the tenders were part of a $30bn package of works it expects to be carried out in the next five-to-seven years.

He said the organisation has 216 road projects planned worth $14bn and 120 buildings planned worth $4bn. He also added that the firm had contracted with some of the best design and project management firms in the world in order to bring the projects forward.

He also explained that tenders with a value below $27m will be offered exclusively to Qatari companies, thise with a value of $27-54m will be offered to joint ventures in which Qatari partners hold a 51% stake and for tenders above $54m being open to all local and foreign firms.
