North American Properties begins work on $600 million mixed-use project in US

North American Properties Incorporated, a US-based real estate company, has broken ground on Avalon, a $600 million mixed-use development in Alpharetta, Georgia.

Sprawling over an 86-acre site in Alpharetta, the Avalon project involves development of more than 500,000 square feet of retail, a 14-screen theatre, four-star boutique hotel, Class A office, single-family residences and luxury rental homes. The project was approved by the Alpharetta City Council in April 2012.

The amenities at Avalon will consist of the Plaza, which will offer facilities for ice skating, concert venue, the Boulevard Park, an intimate area with jewel box restaurants and shaded seating, and Camp Avalon, which will offer bocce courts and lawn games.

The project has been designed by Wakefield Beasley, while Hoar Construction has been appointed as the principal general contractor for the project. Lew Oliver Incorporated has designed the residential part of the development, which includes 101 luxury homes and townhomes.

Avalon will bring more than 4,500 jobs in the region. The project will incorporate a host of sustainable practices such as the use of rainwater runoff for irrigation and reflective roofing materials for energy efficiency. The development will have pedestrian paths to connect all parts of Avalon.
