Morrison Construction wins $45 million flood defence contract in Scotland

Morrison Construction, the Scottish construction business of Galliford Try, has been awarded a £28 million ($44.6 million) flood defence contract in northern Scotland.

The contract forms part of a £45 million ($71.6 million) Moray Council project to upgrade flood defences at Forres (Findhorn & Pilmuir) in Northern Scotland.

The project is part of the wider £177 million ($281.9 million) Moray Flood Alleviation scheme which combines the expertise of The Moray Council, Royal HaskoningDHV, Morrison Construction and EC Harris to solve flooding issues across Moray.

Upon completion, the project will alleviate potential flooding to the town of Forres from the Findhorn and Pilmuir catchments, by recreating riverside flood plains, constructing set-back flood defences and forming a new drainage channel with pumping station.

The contract is set to commence in September 2012 and will be completed in early 2015.
