Excitech construction company acquires Micro Concepts Ltd

Excitech, the UK leader in technology and services for the construction sector, announced it has acquired Autodesk reseller and mechanical design specialists Micro Concepts.

The acquisition, which increases Excitech’s customer base by over 550 customers, strengthens its position in the manufacturing and engineering industries, increasing its technical resources and broadening its offering for these customers.

Micro Concepts Ltd was formed in 1989 by a team of experienced engineering consultants to provide the latest computer-aided solutions to the mechanical design industries.

Peter Hurst, Managing Director explained “As the Autodesk reseller market has become increasingly competitive, with smaller resellers like ourselves coming under continued margin pressures, we became concerned that longer term we wouldn’t be able to continue to deliver the specialised resources and solutions that our customers across the UK need. We felt the best option to ensure our customers continued to enjoy high levels of service was to join forces with a larger reseller. We began discussions with Excitech as they have a long history servicing the manufacturing, engineering and construction industries, they are an Autodesk platinum partner, and both organisations place a premium on building long lasting partnerships with their customers. This, combined with their unrivalled expertise and knowledge in the CAD market, made them the obvious choice.”

Founded in 1985, Excitech employs over 130 people, generating revenues in excess of £31m. Based in Enfield (North London), with additional training facilities in London and Leeds, they were one of the first partners of Autodesk in the UK and are an Autodesk Authorised Training Centre (ATC).

Excitech has extensive knowledge and expertise around the Autodesk portfolio, supporting architects, engineers, contractors, manufacturers and facilities managers. It offers a comprehensive range of training and support solutions, and has a large team of experienced project consultants.

This combined with specialist expertise in providing support, advice and solutions in the areas of IT, Document Management and Facilities Management, means it can deliver a complete service for an effective and productive CAD and modelling environment.

Adrian Atkinson, Founder and Chairman of Excitech said “We have a long history of servicing the manufacturing and engineering industries, so we’re excited to have the specialists from Micro Concepts join us. Our expertise with tools such as Inventor, AutoCAD, and Vault complements their deep mechanical design industry experience, and together we hope to develop more offerings in these areas. We’re delighted to have the opportunity to work with the Micro Concepts team and their customers, and look forward to introducing them to some of the new technologies and skillsets we can offer.”

Micro Concepts, and its team of 11 people, will be transitioning to the Excitech systems over the coming months. They will remain based out of their Cambridge office, and service their customers under the Excitech brand.
