New sports complex opens in Grozny, Chechnya

A new sports complex has opened in Chechnya, named after the region’s first President – Akhmat-Khadzhi Kadyrov. Featuring a 30,000-capacity stadium, swimming pool, children’s pool and 500-room hotel, the facility opened officially on the 11th May.

Health and fitness halls, tennis courts, and boxing and wrestling areas are housed in a sports recreation centre which has a capacity of 350 people. Also on site are two training fields – one of natural grass, the other artificial – and a flexible gym space capable of hosting volleyball, handball, martial arts and basketball tournaments.
